We have many times heard the saying that a healthy mind requires a healthy body, and vice versa. Well Science has shown the essential unity of mind and body. Neurons not only communicate with other neurons, but they also connect with skeletal muscles at the neuromuscular junctions. The brain uses the chemical acetylcholine – its primary neurotransmitter factor for memory and attention – to communicate with the muscles. Another chemical messenger of the brain, dopamine, is involved in regulating fine motor movement. The implication of these neurotransmitters molecules in regulating muscular movement underscores the intimate relation between mind and body, and memory and muscle.
